Open Letter to the Citizens of the Avalon Fire Rescue District

Open Letter to the Citizens of the Avalon Fire Rescue District

The Avalon Fire Rescue District would like to inform the community about recent developments concerning House Bill 4053, which has been filed by State Representative Boyles. This bill proposes changes to how the district is funded. Based on an initial review, these changes are projected to reduce the district’s funding by over $700,000, which could impact several critical operational areas, including:

  • Longer emergency response times
  • Fewer firefighter positions
  • The possible return of a newly purchased fire engine, requiring the district to place back into service an engine that is more than 15 years old

District leadership is actively communicating with Representative Boyles’ office as discussions continue. Our goal is to work toward a resolution that avoids negative impacts on emergency services within the community.

Please stay informed, share this message, and contact your elected state officials if you oppose cuts to emergency services.
